This is Jamie, and when she came with us in March she was a scared little mangy pup. She has blossomed a lot, but still is wary of people and would need more help than I can give her to get over this. I don’t think she will ever be a happy go lucky pup/dog with humans she doesn’t know, but I also don’t believe that is necessary. Once you are in her little circle of trusted persons, she is the most loyal and affectionate pup. She will be your constant companion, always ready for play and cuddles.
Jamie is good on the leash, although she usually is off leash when we go on our morning walks, because we never really encounter any one. She will pull on the leash if she gets excited and when all the other dogs run around, but she is easy to control and as soon as you make her walk next/behind you, she will just happily walk there.
Jamie will sit nicely for her food and does a watch me before eating, is not food aggressive at all, I’ve never seen any sign of aggression what so ever. But she is no push over either. She loves to play, she loves the water and swimming and will fetch whatever is in the water. She’s like a little pool maintenance girl!
Jamie gets along with all my other dogs, small and big and when I brought in another foster, she was best friends with him within a minute. She does, like all my other dogs, like to ‘fence-fight’ the neighbour’s dogs. One time she did encounter those neighbour dogs off leash and charged after them. She’s also used to our cat and will do just fine with cats.
Jamie is a well behaved little girl, I don’t think she will get any bigger as she is now, weighing about 30lbs. She’s not destructive, not an unnecessary barker and she is house trained as she is living as an inside house dog.
I believe Jamie will do well with another dog in the household so she can get some confidence from him/her. She actually has a lot of confidence once she feels safe. She does need someone to give her time and understanding of her needs. I believe she is a great and fantastic dog and both my husband and I love her very much and hope you are able to find her the perfect home!
