We knew when we adopted Tidy (nee Matilda Jane) that she was saved from a kill shelter and because of her past, she was timid and had trauma to overcome. We had no idea what a wonderfully silly and resilient girl she would become in the short time we've had her. Since coming home, she has gone from being uncomfortable walking past people or bikes, to the point where she would lock up and start shaking, to being not only completely unbothered, but curious about people. She has even initiated play with other dogs!
Our recent success with Tidy is having her settle in outdoor environments, like patios and parks, where dogs and people are moving around in close proximity to her. While we weren't able to have her overcome her fear of being crated during the day, she is perfectly fine with sleeping in her crate at night when we're home. She has shown us that she can be trusted to free roam and that all she wants to do is snooze on the couch, and sometimes steal a sock.
