Meet Gemma (20230610-01)

Foster Comments: Sweet momma Gemma has made her way from being a stray in Manitoba, to looking to find her forever home in Ontario. Gemma has been, and continues to be, a caring mom to her puppies, going so far as to leave food in her bowl for them. She is a protective and loyal dog to her kin as well as her foster family, who all work from home and get to spend a lot of time with her. Gemma can be single-minded, which is expected as a recent stray - she likes to go where she wants on walks, simply because that’s what she is used to. Gemma’s fosters keep this in mind when walking her, and find that so long as she gets to explore where she desires, she is well behaved on-leash and does not really pull. Gemma is best suited for an active family, who can take her on longer walks and/or lives in the country with land where she can investigate at her will, or where she can just lay in the grass in the sun. Gemma is calm, caring, and sweet. She is very intelligent, and requires a forever home that can provide consistency, compassion, and patience as she continues to adjust to no longer being a stray who has to provide for her puppies.
