Meet Classy aka Iris (20240528-01)
Foster insights/backstory:
Iris’s story almost ended before it truly began. She and her sister were surrendered to a small-town shelter and given just one week before they were scheduled to be euthanized. Her sister was adopted, and Iris was left behind — alone and out of time — until a hero stepped in and saved her life. Since that day, she has been quietly waiting for someone to choose her just as fiercely.
Iris is a deeply sweet, soulful girl with a heart as big as her beautiful brown eyes. She forms strong bonds with her people and has such lovely manners in the home. She sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, is fully house trained, and carries herself with a calm, steady presence. She knows how to sit, walks nicely on leash, and rides beautifully in the car, making her the perfect companion for everyday life and little adventures alike.
She has a playful side that shines when she’s comfortable. Iris loves long walks, swimming, splashing in the water, and a good game of fetch. Give her a buffalo cheek roll and she’ll treat it like treasure. She adores digging in the dirt, soaking up sunshine, and yes — she has even happily played alongside a donkey. She truly just wants to be included in whatever her family is doing.
With other dogs, Iris enjoys companionship but appreciates respectful boundaries. She doesn’t like dogs that get in her face and will politely correct them if needed. She can live happily with the right canine friend or thrive as your one and only.
Iris is also incredibly smart — clever enough to open crate doors and gates — so she will need a secure yard and a family who understands her bright mind. Her energy level is a perfect low-to-medium balance: playful when it’s time for fun, and calm when it’s time to relax.
More than anything, Iris is looking for a home that will share in the hobbies she loves and offer her the stability she deserves. She has so much loyalty, affection, and quiet devotion to give. After everything she’s been through, she is still full of trust and hope.
Iris isn’t just looking for a house with a yard. She’s looking for her forever — a place where she will never again have to wonder if she belongs.
