Meet Junior Mint (20250624-02)

History:
Junior Mint was taken from very bad living conditions in Northern Manitoba in 2023 along with a second dog, Lucy. The rescuer thought they could find an adopter for him within a month or so but that was not possible.
Unfortunately, they have been kept in a small area in a back yard for at least a year. They were often kept on very short chains in that area. They have had the basics of life (food, water, a heated shelter) but no socialization. Despite all that, they are remarkably well adjusted.
Foster Notes: Junior is a sweet dog. He absolutely loves to go for walks. He is so enthusiastic about this! He also loves to play fetch with anything but especially a tennis ball. He enjoys playing tug of war. He's good with friendly dogs and wants to meet cats but hasn't found one yet that will let him. He'd be okay with kids but needs a calm household. He loves to cuddle when invited on the couch but otherwise sleeps on his dog bed.
He is very intelligent! He is working on many skills. He is house trained if taken out regularly. He is not food aggressive. He is somewhat prey-driven but can be redirected. He is somewhat skittish when faced with something new or when startled.
He would do best in a home with a confident handler and someone who is going to be there to give him lots of love or with another dog companion .
