Meet Pepper (20241212-02)
Backstory:
Pepper was brought to the shelter after her family moved off and left her loose to fend for herself. A neighbor took her in and kept her safe until we had a kennel for her. Since being at the shelter, Pepper has gained some weight and made a lot of friends. When people walk by her kennel she barks and jumps up in excitement which makes her appear aggressive.. but it’s the opposite, she just wants to meet you! So she has sat here since September without a single application. Pepper is a hyper girl who will need exercise and enrichment activities or she will get barky and jittery. Once out of her kennel, the first few minutes she is bouncy and pulls; however, after the first 10 minutes she is very calm and ready to lay down in your lap and receive all the love you could give her.
Additional info: Pepper has been waiting 241 days—four months short of a year—for someone to finally say, “She’s the one.” She was brought to the shelter after her family moved away and left her loose to fend for herself. A neighbour took her in and kept her safe until the shelter had an available kennel for her. Day after day, she watches families walk past her kennel, her tail wagging with hope that never quite fades, though it’s getting harder. Pepper is a joyful, medium-energy girl who lives for the little things—splashing in water, long walks, toys, treats, and time with her people. She’s amazing with male dogs, though she is selective with females. Despite it all, Pepper’s heart is wide open, ready to give her whole self to someone who will let her live the active, love-filled life she dreams of. She’s tired of being overlooked—she just wants to be chosen.
